Duany Plater-Zyberk & Co. developed the master plan for building Liberty Harbor North. Their strategy was motivated by a desire to go beyond both; the modernist tendency of controlling the gregarious and accidental aspects of an energized civic life, and the conservative post-modern approach which limits itself to pre-existing historical models not attuned to contemporary urban conditions.
