| “We used the waterfront condition
to explore how each block would work visually and practically
on a variety of scales, from varying distances, and also multiple
of speeds of movement. The towers facing the waterfront are
25 stories, and have a marked presence as seen from afar,
from the river. Yet, each building is massed so that it has
a firm, solid base and a lighter, transparent tower, which
is set back from the street. Due to this setback, the building
is perceived as much smaller directly from the street, while
it still creates an imposing ‘view’ from the waterfront.’ |
